President Adama Barrow has today appointed Mai Ahmad Fatty as his new political adviser.

Fatty’s appointment came in the wake of President Barrow’s major attempt to reshuffle his inner circle and shore up his political base.

As the political feud between Barrow and Darboe intensifies, Barrow is making power moves to realign with other political actors.

Fatty, the leader of Gambia Moral Congress, replaces Yusupha Cham, of the United Democratic Party, who was sacked last week by the president.

Fatty’s appointment comes 12 months after he was sacked as Minister of Interior of The Gambia.

He is now returning to the government after a short spell in the political wilderness to serve as adviser to the president.
