The Ministry of Health has lifted a month-long suspension on hundreds of striking public health workers.

Last month about 300 public health workers were suspended for defying the ministry’s return-to-work ultimatum while on strike for better pay and living conditions.

However, senior officials of the ministry have now offered an olive branch to the striking workers and said they are open to dialogue to resolve the dispute.

Muhammed Lamin Jaiteh, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, said “this office wishes to reiterate that it’s open to dialogue and believes it’s the only way to resolving issues of personal and national concern or interest.”

Mr Jaiteh said the suspension has been lifted and urged the striking public health workers to  return to their duty post with effect from Monday 1 August.
