Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital has reported a rare deadly disease in children.

“There is a rare condition currently under observation in the Paediatric Outpatient. 

“Samples were collected from the affected children and awaiting results from the lab,” the hospital said in a statement on Tuesday. 

The nation’s top referral hospital also advised the public to be vigilant and report to the nearest health facility if their child has any of the symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting and reduced urination.  

“It is severe and already causing mortality in children. Our doctors are working very hard to establish the cause of the condition,” the statement added.
