Momodou Sabally’s defamation trial at the high court has been adjourned until early next year
The former secretary general and head of civil service appeared on Monday (14 November) before Justice Ademola Bakre, over a civil suit brought by a business tycoon and owner of Gach company Abubacarr Jawara.
Mr Jawara has claimed that Momodou Sabally defamed him and his business.
He is demanding that Sabally issue “an unreserved apology” to him “to be published in widely circulating national newspapers” in the country.
Mr Jawara is also demanding 8 million dalasis as damages for defamation and slander.
Meanwhile, when the case was called up at the high court annex in Banjul. Sabally was given ten days to officially respond to the defamation file against him.
Sabally is represented by lawyer Abdoulie Fatty while Abubacarr Jawara is represented by lawyer Ida Drammeh.
