Police have arrested an unnamed 46-year-old suspect over the death of a missing Bakau taxi driver whose remains was found in Salaji.

Omar Sonko of Bakau Kachikally went missing last Friday with his taxi. 

His family reported the matter to the police when they couldn’t reach him. A search was launched for his whereabouts.

However, police today (1 December) announced the arrest of a man in Brusubi as part of their murder investigation. 

“The police have arrested and detained a suspected 46-year-old Banjulian man of Brusubi resident. The suspect is currently helping the police with their investigation. 

“While the police continue to probe into this incident, the general public is urged to exercise calm and restraint and avoid any unlawful activity,” the police said in a statement said.
