The ruling National People’s Party has elected its executive to office despite allegation that President Barrow, the party leader, interfered in the elective congress.
The party delegates uninamously returned their party secretary general and leader Adama Barrow and some key figures to office unopposed during its first national congress since its formation in 2019.
The oldest founding member of the ruling party Dembo Byforce Bojang has been elected unopposed as the party’s National President.
Meanwhile, Dr Demba Sabally is also elected as 1st Deputy National President, while Suku Singhateh went unopposed as 2nd Deputy National President, and Musa Drammeh was also elected as Treasurer.
Lamin Saidy was reelected as the party’s Finance Secretary and Maimuna Baldeh as National Women Mobiliser, Lamin Queen Jammeh, Spokesperson, and Seedy Njie Deputy Spokesperson.
