Gambians have condemned and demanded a disciplinary action on a doctor alleged to have assaulted a patient at Ndemban Clinic in Bakau.

A widely shared CCTV footage shows a doctor in blue medical uniform assaulting a patient lying on a bed as some men and women came to the aid of the helpless patient.

However, Dr Abubacarr Jagne, chief medical director at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, told Gambiana that they have set up a committee to investigate the matter.

“The hospital is investigating the matter and will appropriately inform the public of the finding that may arise. 

“A Technical Committee had been set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Based on the results of the investigations, appropriate actions will be taken to ensure such [an incident] do not happen [again],” he said.
