The Gambia Police Force has announced plan to introduce bodycam on its officers and personnel.
Police chief Abdoulie Sanyang said that the move seeks to help improve standards and professionalism on men and women in police uniform.
He also announced plan to introduce a 30-hour standard-based merits training for his men and women every year.
According to the police chief, this training will see promotion of his well-performed men and women.
Reacting to alleged corruption on traffic policing, the top cop said: “the system is already here. We have build the system. If you look at that screen up there, everybody countrywide I will be seeing you and then hearing what you are saying.
“That’s the kind of system we are having now. We are just waiting to implement it and launch it.”
“Apart from the complaint and discipline, we have the professional standard and we are now saying that put the right pegs on the right holes.
“Even though people are saying security sector reform, but as far as The Gambia Police Force is concerned, we are doing a lot in terms of training in trying to rectifying the problems here and there,” he said.
