Assiatou Jallow, mother of Lamarana Jallow, who was allegedly killed by his girlfriend at the Bakau Friendship Hostel told the high court in Banjul that Kumba Sinyang did vow to do something to her son that the whole world would hear.
Kumba Sinyan is charged with murdering his boyfriend, Lamarana Jallow, a day he was to travelled to Malaysia for postgraduate studies. This happened in September of 2022.
In a brief testimony, Ms Jallow told the court that: “Kumba told me she will do something to Lama that the whole world will not forget about it.”
She told the court that Kumba Sinyan once called asking to warn her son for talking too much to women, adding during that telephone conversation that Kumba vowed to do something to Lamarana Jallow.
She said when Kumba called her she told her “Aunt Assiatou, I want you to talk to Lama. I asked her what should I talk to him about and she said he talks to women a lot. I told her I sell at a market and I also talk to men. She (Kumba) said okay, she will do something that the whole world will not forget about it.”
Mrs Jallow said that she admonished Kumba to know that marriage is by consent and she should have a free mind about it, adding that Kumba told her that she cannot leave Lama to go free.
The case adjourned to 22 March.
