President Adama Barrow

President Adama Barrow has thanked his party and its coalition partners after marginal gains in the just concluded local government elections.

According to the final results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) the NPP- led coalition secured 61 seats out of the national 120 seats. The NPP scored 52, NRP 4, APRC, 5.

Meanwhile, opposition United Democratic Party secured 45 seats while No -To Alliance got 7, GDC 5, PDOIS 1, and Independent 1.

In his speech after the elections, President Barrow said: “as a political party, the results of the Local Government Election shows an improvement from the National Assembly in all the regions. 

“They reflect an incredible performance of our young party which won an absolute majority in the previous Presidential election and majority seats in both the National Assembly and Councils’ elections.”
