Ebou Faye, a football administrator of Gambia Football Federation, has touted his track record saying it will give him an advantage in the May 20 Banjul mayoral election. 

Faye, of the ruling National People’s Party, will face the nation’s first-ever female mayor, Rohey Malick Lowe and senior figure of the opposition United Democratic Party. 

He lost to Lowe in the last mayoral election in 2018.

“I am not worried of anything. I am a football administrator but I am an administrator of difference. I am very hopeful of a win because I am an NPP Banjul. Banjulians can tell you what I have been doing,” he told reporters shortly after submitting his nomination papers to the IEC Banjul office.

According to him, his top priorities includes addressing seasonal flooding in Banjul especially in Tobacco Road and garbage problem within the city.

However, Faye has been widely critised for his administration of the nation’s only football stadium which has been ruled out by FIFA for not meeting the global standard to host a football game.
