The Young Scorpions will today take on Uruguay at Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades stadium in Argentina for a place in the FIFA U-20 World Cup quarterfinals.
Coach Abdoulie Bojang’s talented Gambian side have impressed in the group stages beating favourite France to top Group F.
The team will go in to today’s game high in confidence on the back of two wins and a draw.
Gambia can call upon the talents of Bayern Munich youngster Mamin Samyang and star striker Adama Bojang, nicknamed The Gambia hurricane.
However they face tough opposition in an attack minded Uruguayan side who also impressed in the group stages.
Marcelo Broli’s team finished second behind England in Group E with impressive performance from forward players like Luciano Rodriguez and Andres Ferrari.
Both sides made it through the group stage fairly comfortably but the quality of opponents will increase dramatically in the knock-out round.
Gambia have shown that they can upset elite opponents and looking to make history with this highly talented team.
