The Gambia National Assembly speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta has met with the deputy speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament Adil Aliyev on the sidelines of an international conference in Morocco. 

The two leaders discussed possible areas of cooperation between the countries parliaments and the current situation in the world.

They also discussed the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) on the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the country’s successful leadership of the NAM and organization of the Summits of the NAM Contact Group in response to COVID-19.

Along with inter-parliamentary relations, they discussed issues of mutual cooperation within international parliamentary organisations.

The Azerbaijani deputy speaker provided extensive information about the history of their ongoing war with neighbours Armenia over disputed territory Nagorno-Karabakh.
