Brikama United have been crowned Gambia Football Federation Women’s Second Division champion after they drew 1-1 at home to Trust Academy on Tuesday (25 July) at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

As champions, Brikama United are now promoted to the First tier of women’s football and presented with a cheque for D300,000, trophy and medals. 

Goal keeper Isatou Ceesay scored from the penalty spot for the home side to equalize the scoring after the visitors earlier broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the start through Arokey Mendy.

Despite series of efforts from the Brikama Girls, a formidable Trust Academy Girls remained resistant and thus ending the game 1-1 at full time. 

With the draw, Brikama United accumulated a staggering 47 points at the end of the campaign to top the league table.
