Gambia police have taken close to hundred suspected criminals since the launch of their all-out crackdown on crimes and criminal hideouts in the country.

Police said they arrested most of the suspects in Brufut, Sukuta, Kololi Taban, Tabokoto, and Abuko.

The crackdown comes as criminals including thieves continue to wreck havoc on the communities – as knife crimes see a sharp rise. 

The operation, led by no-nonsense police commander AIG Lamin Bojang, has been significantly welcomed among Gambians and residents of the country.

Police said their latest operation within Kombo has seen their operative officers “arrest four suspects in Sukuta and four suspects in Abuko.”

“As a result of this high-powered operation, led by the Head of Police Operations, AIG Landing Bojang, 95 suspects were arrested at different criminal dens and hideouts within the West Coast Region and KM,” police added.

According The Gambia Police, due processes have been initiated to process the suspects for screening and eventual prosecution where appropriate.
