The Gambia Government has announced the arrests of seven foreign nationals including a Bissau Guinean man.

However, the government could not state the reasons of the arrests of the foreign nationals, but said it was committed to ensuring national security, safety and well being of the citizens and residents.

Ebrima G. Sankareh, spokesman of The Gambia government, said in a statement that: “resolved to curb crime, a sting operation was carried out recently by a multi sectoral security panel resulting in the arrest of one Paolo Jabbie, a Bissau-Guinean and seven other nationals from diverse places across the world.”

“The operation leading to the arrest of these individuals was contingent on The Gambia Government’s commitment to ensuring top-most national security, safety and well being of the citizens and residents,” he added.

Meanwhile, the statement continued that additional information cannot be shared for now, as investigations are progressing.
