A lightning sparked by thunderstorm has killed footballer Bakary Colley in his home village of Sohm, Kombo East. 

The deceased is known to have served in The Gambia Police Force. 

The Gambia Football Federation described his death as “an irreparable loss”.

Lamin Kabba Bajo, president of The Gambia Football Federation expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late Mr. Colley and the entire football community of the region. 

“May Allah grant the departed an eternal rest in Jannah and for Him to give his family the fortitude to bear what he described as an irreparable loss,” he said.
