Major General Mamat O Cham has replaced Lieutenant General Yakuba A Drammeh as Gambia’s new Chief of Defence Staff.

A statement from The Gambia Armed Forces said:”The Chief of Defence Staff, Gambia Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yakuba A Drammeh has decided to proceed on statutory retirement after reaching the age of 60 years.  

“He has served the GAF for almost 40 years and will be replaced by his deputy, Major General Mamat O Cham. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence will issue a Press Release on this development at the appropriate time.”
