The Gambia’s Ministry of Justice has held a meeting with legal experts to review and discuss the Special Prosecutor’s Office Bill & the Special Accountability Mechanism Bill .
“These Bills are crucial in ensuring accountability with respect to crimes committed during the Jammeh era,” the ministry said.
At least dozens of both former and serving security officers and civilians have been adversely mentioned in the recommendations of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission report.
The commission was set up in 2017 to look into human rights crimes committed during the 22-year rule of former Gambia strongman Yahya Jammeh.
