Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has told Gambians in the diaspora to join the crusade in changing the Barrow government in the 2026 presidential election for the best interest of the country.

The leader of main opposition United Democratic Party made the statement while addressing Gambians in Birmingham city, the United Kingdom.

Darboe claimed that the Barrow government is mortgaging the country’s parastatals to the highest bidder.

He said the Barrow government is “ready to mortgage our SOEs like Gamtel, Gambia Ports Authority, and Gambia Civil Aviation Authority to those people whom they said gave them loans.

“This is why we should all stand up and ensure that this government is changed.”

“Let us all stand up to make sure that our country is protected from mortgage. And this can only be done by changing this government in the best interest of Gambians.”
