Gambian U-20 midfielder, Mahmudu Bajo, has earned his first ever call-up to the senior team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Burundi.

Bajo replaces Sulayman Marreg who has been club less for the past months.

“The performance of Mahmudu Bajo at his club in Slovakia is really impressive. It’s a position where since we missed Sulayman Marreh, one of our regulars.

“So, we were looking for an alternative. I spoke to him earlier and he is eager to join the national team and we welcome him as part of the senior national team,” coach Tom Saintfeit said.

He added: “we’re always open to young talents. We’re not afraid to give young players the opportunity to play for the country. We were impressed with coach Abdoulie Bojang team in the U-20 World Cup and we are in touch with several of them.”
