Police have arrested 24 councillors of Brikama Area Council after they forcefully stopped the council’s CEO Modou Jonga from entering his office. 

Police have now opened an investigation into the matter. 

“The investigation so far indicates offences: Conspiracy to commit a felony and malicious injury to property,” police said.

This came after Brikama Area Council leadership accused Jonga of embezzling millions from the council’s coffers. Jonga however denied the allegation.

He has now been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
