Momodou Sabally has today met President Adama Barrow at the State House following his dramatic exit from the opposition United Democratic Party.

Sabally on Tuesday resigned from his post as the UDP’s campaign manager and announced that he was no longer a member of the opposition party.

This came amid reports of him switching alliance to President Adama Barrow’s ruling National People’s Party.

Sabally has been a staunch critic of Barrow’s government since his ban on holding public office by the Janneh Commission. He was found to have acted inappropriately in his handling of public funds whilst working as a senior government official during the Jammeh regime.

Meanwhile, Sabally was given a heroic welcome yesterday during a visit to his sister Binta Sabally’s house. Binta is a staunch supporter of President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party.

In a video seen by Gambiana, Sabally clad in his trademark jumper Can’t Cage Me was given a standing ovation as he entered his sister’s house.

The two then hugged each other and Sabally was offered to sit in a sofa.

“I was worried about him,” his sister Binta Sabally could be heard saying.
