The Ivorian Football Federation is on the verge of securing a loan deal for Hervé Renard, the current manager of the France women’s national team.

Renard, renowned for his success in coaching national teams across Africa, is set to temporarily guide the Ivory Coast team until the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He will replace Jean-Louis Gasset, who was removed from his coaching role after a 4-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea during the group stage of the tournament.

Having previously led Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations victories in 2012 and 2015, respectively, Renard is no stranger to the challenges of African football.

The Ivorian Football Federation has reportedly reached out to the French Football Federation (FFF) to secure Renard’s services on loan.

Ivory Coast, having qualified as one of the four best losers with 3 points, faces a formidable challenge in the round of 16 against Senegal, one of the tournament favourites.

The crucial match is scheduled to take place at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday, January 29.
