The Gambia Police Force have received eight specialist dogs and train handlers for its new K-9 Unit.
The dogs were unveiled in a special ceremony yesterday (February 13) at the Police Intervention Unit grounds in Kanifing.
GPF said the dogs and their handlers have completed the first phase of their training for the establishment of the K-9 Unit within the Police Intervention Unit.
“These highly trained canine companions will be crucial in detecting illicit substances, apprehending suspects, and conducting search and rescue operations. With the introduction of specially trained K-9 dogs, the Gambia Police Force is committed to adopting modern and effective policing strategies,” Police spokeswoman ASP Binta Njie told Gambiana.
