Marie Sock, former presidential aspirant, has ripped into Momodou Sabally over “discriminatory” comment made against mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda.

Sabally has described Talib Bensouda as “white boy” locally called “domi toubab” as he launched attack on the KMC mayor and his leadership since ditching the opposition United Democratic Party to join Barrow’s National People’s Party.

However, Sabally’s comment against Talib Bensouda has been condemned by Ms Sock who strongly advised Sabally to do away with politics of discrimination.

“Sabally we will not condone racial discrimination in this country. The head of state, Barrow, called for unity discourse on the way forward for our nation. We can do politics all day but no to racial discrimination, no to tribal discrimination, no to religious divide,” she said. 

Ms Sock believed Sabally’s comment is “discriminatory not only to Talib but to all Gambian children of mixed race. 

“You are not only calling Talib Bensouda ‘domi toubab’ but you are doing so to all our children that are of mixed race,” she added. 

She called on the National People’s Party to denounce Sabally over the comment immediately, adding she demands the action not because “I am a member of the UDP but I am a concerned Gambian and care for the peace and stability of the Gambia.”
