A man has picked up a newborn baby after her mother abandoned her under a tree in Sotokoi Tintinto.

According to reports, the baby was found left under a cashew tree by her unknown mother. 

The baby girl has been handed to the police in Brufut for them to hand her to social welfare officials.

“I was going to school on Monday afternoon and I heard the baby crying under a cashew tree. I rushed to the scene and found a baby crying. I don’t think the baby mother is from our village because we haven’t seen any young girl or woman who is pregnant and delivered without having the baby with the mother. The mother of the child must be from a nearby community,” the man who found the baby is quoted as saying by PYF.
