Police have impounded the ruling National People’s Party’s vehicle during a clampdown on cars with no number plates.

Police said most of the hit-and-run accidents are committed by vehicles with no number plates.

Speaking to reporters during the seizure, Lamin King Colley, commissioner of police mobile traffic unit, vowed that his unit will spare no vehicles found breaking the country’s traffic rules.

“There is no distinction whether you are a government vehicle or security vehicle or you are a political vehicle. You can see in the background the NPP vehicle with front number plate and back no number plate is parked. These are things that are not acceptable,” he said.
