Ahmed Talib Bensouda, mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council has warned that Barrow’s recent comments are a sign that his leadership is coming to an end.

Barrow sparked anger among United Democratic Party members and supporters after describing their political bureaus as like Naar boutiques during his nationwide tour.

The president has faced backlash for this comments against the UDP. However, the ruling National People’s Party leaped in defence of the president over his comments while insisting that his remark was taken out of context.

In the latest response to Barrow’s remarks, mayor Bensouda who is of Lebanese descent, locally called Naar, scolded Barrow’s remarks as “unpresidential and divisive” while warning that the president’s recent comments are signs of his leadership coming to an end.

The nation’s youngest mayor continued to warn Barrow to step down before the upcoming presidential election in order to save himself from humiliation.

“What we made of Barrow’s comment is that his time in power is up and every government has a time. That’s why people advocate two-term offices around the world. Because if a government surpasses two-term in office, it results in destruction,” he said.
