Journalist Kaddijatou Jawo has said she was assaulted by security guards at the National Assembly.

She shared a picture of herself with bruises around her neck she sustained in the hands of the security guards.

“Even though the National Assembly has imposed a dress code on people entering the people’s house, I went there today modestly dressed.

“Despite this, two security men at the gate forcefully kicked me out, and one of them assaulted me, leaving bruises on my neck. It seemed he woke up on the wrong side of the bed,” she said.

“As soon as I entered the NA and introduced myself as Press, they were visibly unhappy and searched my bag. I’ll stop here for now and let the Gambia Press Union take up the matter. No one will threaten me in the course of my work,” she added.
