The Nigerian government has dispatched a team of volunteers from a diverse professional backgrounds to the Gambia as part of its bilateral support to the country. 

The team of 11 volunteers include lawyers, engineers and teachers from the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC).

The volunteers will serve for 24 months in the Gambia. 

NTAC is part of Nigeria’s soft diplomacy to share its technical know-how and expertise with other African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

The support package includes assistance on the basis of assessed and perceived needs of the recipient countries, reports Radio Nigeria.

Oyetunji Akinlabi, an engineer professor at the Federal University of Technology, who leads the team of volunteers, thanked the Nigerian Government for the opportunity and pledged that they would strive to promote the nation’s interest and also engage in activities that are geared towards the promotion and preservation of African unity.
