Mama Kandeh, leader of the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress, has warned Gambians “never to miss a once in a lifetime opportunity” in voting his party in power.
Speaking to party supporters at Baoab hotel, Mr Kandeh said his party is the only political party that can address the plights of Gambians.
“This is your chance and if you joke with it, you joke with your future. Left to me alone, I will be enjoying it with my family, but I have an obligation to rescue this country and Gambians from abject poverty and problems,” he said.
“Why should someone come and fool you with a host and football? That’s a joke. We all know the state of this country and youth of this country
“Let’s come together and change this country. We have nowhere other than this country. I don’t want to be a citizen of any other country other than this country. Our goal in GDC is unity and development; that’s why we don’t have a problem of religion and tribal differences in the party,” he added.
Commenting on corruption, Kandeh said: “I want to assure you in my government that there will be no tolerance for corruption because we will make sure that you sign a document that if you are found wanting you will face the full wrath of the law. That’s no compromise because you are paid a salary from the coffers of Gambians. Then why should you steal from citizens.”
