The Gambia U-20 team Tuesday returned to Banjul with bronze medal in the WAFU Zone A championship in Liberia.

The Young Scorpions had a challenging tournament losing by 3-0 to Sierra Leone U-20 team in their opener. But the team had a stalemate draw with Senegal and Mali.

Scores of fans and some football pundits criticised the mode of selection of the players, which is being described as “imbalance”.

Abdoulie Bojang, who took the previous U-20 team to a successful Africa youth championship and world cup, now faces an uphill task after the performance of the boys.
