Ousainou Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has expressed his confidence in the opposition party’s chances of winning the upcoming presidential election in 2026.

Fresh from a successful fundraiser in the United States, where the party raised an impressive 6 million dalasis, Darboe returned to a warm welcome.

Hundreds of enthusiastic supporters gathered at Banjul International Airport late Monday to greet him. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, featuring vibrant drumming and dancing as supporters escorted their leader to his residence in Pipeline.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Darboe declared, “UDP is well prepared and it’s going to defeat any candidate that contests against us. The entire country is rallying behind the UDP and Lawyer Darboe. UDP is stronger today than before, and we are improving every day. People are ready to elect a UDP government in 2026 for the development of the country.”
