The Gambia Police Force is currently investigating audit queries raised in the Special Audit Report issued by the Auditor General concerning the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

This report highlighted several discrepancies in financial management and allocation of resources within the IEC.

The investigation aims to address concerns about potential mismanagement and ensure accountability within the electoral body, which plays a crucial role in upholding the democratic process in the country.

“Key areas of focus include irregular expenditures, unaccounted funds, and compliance with established financial regulations.

“Authorities have emphasized the importance of transparency throughout the inquiry. The public will be updated on any significant developments as the investigation progresses, with regular briefings scheduled to keep stakeholders informed.

“We assure all stakeholders that this inquiry will be conducted with the utmost professionalism and integrity. The Gambia Police Force is committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that any wrongdoings are addressed appropriately.
