The Gambia senior football team has arrived in Tunisia ahead of their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the North African side, scheduled for Monday evening.

The match comes after the Scorpions were officially eliminated from the qualifiers, a disappointing outcome that has left fans frustrated.

Under head coach Jonathan McKinstry, the team struggled to find form, securing only one win, alongside a draw and multiple losses in the campaign.

This lacklustre performance has drawn sharp criticism from both fans and analysts, with many questioning the tactics employed by McKinstry and the players’ commitment on the field.

The team landed in Tunis on Sunday and began clearing immigration protocols before heading to their hotel. They are scheduled to train later in the evening at 19:00 GMT, a session that mirrors the kickoff time for Monday’s match.

Despite the disappointment, the Scorpions aim to salvage some pride in their final outing against Tunisia, a team known for its consistent good performance in African football.
