Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, minister of health, has delivered a stern warning to opposition critics calling for his removal from office.
Speaking at a rally hosted by President Adama Barrow, Dr. Samateh declared that if dismissed, he would become a “monster” for his detractors, using his newfound freedom to mount a vigorous political offensive.
“Those people wishing for my sacking will not occupy this seat either,” he said. “Some opposition figures find my role as minister convenient for them. But if I am no longer a minister, I will have the liberty to say whatever I want to say, and it will be tough for them.”
Dr. Samateh also addressed recent verbal attacks he faced during his visit to the United States, describing the incidents as “disgusting”.
He criticised some Gambians, including individuals from his native Kiang region, for their conduct, alleging that some were “sponsored” to undermine him.
“We don’t need insulters in our midst because their attitudes will not do us any good,” he remarked.
The minister reiterated his steadfast loyalty to President Barrow, pledging to support him regardless of his role in the government.
