Hamat Bah, the Minister of Lands and Local Government, has launched a stern criticism against civil servants who consistently arrive late to work and leave early, describing such behaviour as not only “bad” but also “illegal”.

Speaking at a rally, he emphasised the stark contrast between the commitment of the country’s leadership and the lack of discipline within certain sectors of the civil service.

“You have a president who comes to work as early as 8 a.m. and stays late into the night working. But you come to work late, and if you do come, you are busy on your phone and computer watching movies. You go up and down looking for food, spending more time on personal distractions than on your work. Tell me, when will we develop this country?” he questioned.

He called for a more professional approach to their duties, stressing that the country’s progress depends on a collective effort to focus on the job at hand.

“Let’s move away from this attitude. You should consume what you worked for,” he concluded, making a clear call for civil servants to uphold the standards expected of them.
