A female health worker has tragically lost her life after being fatally assaulted with a pestle.

The unnamed suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The attack was reported to Sarengai Police Station by staff at Yerobawole Health Centre. Police swiftly responded to the scene, arresting the suspect and recovering the murder weapon, a pestle.

The body of the victim has been transported to the mortuary at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul for a possible postmortem examination.
