Gambian seasonal reggae and dancehall artist, Benjahmin, whose real name is Kawsu Ceesay, is set to stage his homecoming reggae concert on January 18, where he is expected to release his new song titled ‘season and time’.
Benjahmin, known for his dynamic messages and electrifying performances on stage, has released several songs including ‘save the nation, economic depression, soon or later and magic in Gambia’.
Speaking at a news conference, he said the concert aims to bring communities together as a token of appreciation to Gambians who have been for him since he came into the music scene.
“It’s event that seeks to bring communities together. It’s not a self-centred or commercialised event. I have not been home for a very long time so I’ve decided to come up with this initiative after I have done my second album,” he said.
As a Gambian reggae artist who is now based in Europe, Benjahmin thought it wise to also bring development back to his home country through music.
“I said to myself, as a musician I will not stop there, but I will create a platform for our brothers and sisters in the diaspora and Gambia can come together to celebrate and enjoy,” he added.
“We all can contribute to the development of the country, which the artists are no exception because the government cannot do it all alone,” he added.
DJ Live Talk, an official of Frontline Army Musical Group, which represents Benjahmin and three other international artists, promised fans and Benjahmin’s lovers of an unforgettable concert.
“We’re here to give you a brand new package we’ve been working on and it’s called season and time,” he said.
