The Gambia faced off against Gabon in a tense encounter that ended in a hard-fought goalless draw at home in Thies during the opening leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 qualifiers on Friday night. 

The Local Scorpions had much of the ball but they were not able to get the breakthrough. 

Coach Alagie Sarr’s charges will now set their sights on the return leg in Libreville, scheduled for March 8, 2025. 

The scoreline is all square and both sides will fancy their chances to secure a coveted spot in the final qualifiers against Algeria.
