Alasana Yirajang, the Podbrezova marauding forward, has been rewarded by coach Johnathan McKinstry for his blistering form for the Slovakian Club with a maiden call to The Gambia men’s senior national team.

The 20-year-old Gambian forward Alasana Yirajang is Podbrezova’s top scorer in the Slovakian top-tier league with 7 goals and 3 assists thus caught the eyes of coach Johnathan McKinstry who invited him for the Scorpion’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Ivory Coast.

Yirajang, who had called up in different youth categories of the Gambia and yet never represented Gambia in any category, said he believed his time will come to represent the Scorpions.

“I was called up for the U17 but I never played. I was called up for the U20 but I never played. The same happened with the U23. So when I moved to Slovakia, I always had it in my mind that one day, I would play for my country.”

Yirajang has scored a total 9 goals and further provided 3 assists in 28 matches for Podbrezova so far.
