Police are investigating two adult men accused of attempting to engage in same-sex relations on Friday at an unfinished building in Old Yundum.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 22, have not been named for their safety. They were reportedly apprehended by a police patrol team at the location.

Speaking exclusively to Gambiana, Police Spokesman ASP Modou Musa Sisawo confirmed the arrest of the two suspects, adding that they are currently under investigation

“They were not actually found committing the act, but there was an attempt. They were arrested and taken to the hospital for a medical examination to determine whether there was penetration,” he told Gambiana.

He added: “Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.”

Under Gambian law, homosexuality remains a criminal offence, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
