A man with green body paint proclaiming support for APRC and former president Yahya Jammeh has been arrested by The Gambia Police.

Police spokesman ASP Lamin Njie said the unindentified man was arrested for traffic obstruction and idle behaviour adding that the arrest was not politically motivated.

His arrest has been condemned by many Gambians who argued that the man was expressing his rights to free expression and association.

The unidentified mascot became a viral sensation after a video emerged of him walking slowly like a robot in traffic with many people taking photos of him.

The slogans on his painted body read: ‘APRC is back’, Jammeh is the best president for Gambia’, ‘God bless’.

Many have called for his immediate release from police custody.
