President Adama Barrow has appointed Mrs Fatou Sanyang-Kinteh as as Minister for Women Affairs, Children, and Social Welfare.
According to a press release from the Office of the President, Mrs Sanyang Kinteh’s appointment takes effect on 1st March, 2019. She will head the new ministry which was formerly under the control of the Vice President’s Office.
Mrs Sanyang-Kinteh has a distinguished track record in advocating for the rights of women and children in The Gambia and beyond.
She is a veteran of the Women’s Bureau, and also worked with the United Nations for several years.
Before her ministerial appointment Mrs Sanyang-Kinteh was a gender lecturer at the University of The Gambia.
