President Adama Barrow has sacked his vice president, Ousainou Darboe and two other ministers in a major cabinet reshuffle.
The two sacked ministers are Lamin Dibba, minister of Agriculture and Amadou Sanneh, Minister of Trade.
An official statement from the president’s office stated that the cabinet reshuffle was in accordance with sections 70 (5) (a), 71(4) (b) and Sections 70(3) and 71(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.
No reason was given for the firing of the three senior cabinet officials who are all members of the United Democratic Party.
Dr. Isatou Touray, Minister of Health was appointed to replace Darboe as Vice President. Lamin Jobe was appointed Minister of Trade to replace Amadou Sanneh.
James Gomez, Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, will oversee the Agriculture Ministry until further notice.
