The umbrella body Gambia’s Civil Society Organisations has announced a solidarity march for the victims of former President Yahya Jammeh.

The march dubbed #NeverAgain will be held on Saturday at the Youth Monument in Westfield.

Speaking at a news conference organiser  Madi Jobateh told reporters: “we are calling on all Gambians to demonstrate collective national commitment.

“We want to demonstrate peace, reconciliation and unity. We want to inform the government that this is the wishes of the masses of the Gambia.

“We are asking everyone to wear a white T-shirt either written or plain and banners will be provided with the slogan #Never Again.”

“We are patiently awaiting the TRRC report and its recommendations, we the people, victims, their families and members of the Civil Society Organizations, we call on all Gambians to join the #NeverAgain March in order to express solidarity with all victims and reaffirm our commitment to the transitional justice process and for implantation of the TRRC recommendations,” Mr Jobarteh added.

He said that the march is strictly apolitical, as he urged political parties and their supporters to participate without party symbols.

According to him, they want to transform this country by upholding the transitional justice programme, adding their international partners and each and every citizen of the Gambia that this is what Gambians want.
