The long-awaited football bonanza is here as hosts Cameroon face Burkina Faso on home soil in the opening match of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Amid all the concerns off the pitch, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations gets underway on Sunday afternoon with the opening Group A match between Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

Cameroon, hosting the tournament for the first time in 50 years, has seen the build-up overshadowed by conflict in the country’s Anglophone regions, as well as an escalating Covid crisis, which, at one time, placed the event in doubt.

But Cameroon will head to Yaounde’s Olembe Stadium to get this latest competition underway as they take on Burkina Faso.
