Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat today donated food stuff – including bags of rice, sugar, onions, and gallons of cooking oil – with cash to a family who lost their house in a fire in Tallinding.
The once lively home has now been deserted due to a tragic fire incident that destroyed the family’s property.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, Baba F Trawally, Amir of the Jamaat, expressed grief about the tragic incident and prayed for the family.
“We are in grief to be here. Nobody wishes for this and we are in very much grief about the incident,” he consoled the bereaved family.
According to him, they came to know about the unfortunate incident while attending a funeral when they saw flames and smokes billowing and that they were told a compound was burnt down by a fire.
“And we thought it necessary to come and assist because this holy month of Ramadan is all about togetherness. So, during this month, fire disaster or any disaster, together we should be able to assist,” he said.
Omar Bajaga, head of the affected family, thanked the Jamaat for the support, adding that he and his family are now left with nothing.
He said they have lost more than D75,000 in in materials in the fire incident, but added that this support will help them to rebuild their lives.
Mustapha Darboe, officer from the National Disaster Management Agency, also expressed deep gratitude to the Ahmadiyya Jamaat for their generous and humanitarian supports to the needy people in the country.
“Their continued commitment to providing relief during times of crisis is a testament in their dedication in serving humanity,” he said.
