Ahmed Gitteh has announced his bid to contest Brikama Area Council chairmanship.
“I want this job because I felt the West Coast as a region is the biggest, the richest and it has a potential to not only take care of the needs of the region, but the needs of the country as a whole,” he said.
“But I believe as much as we have those potentials, we are far behind in terms of revenue generation, in terms of building the infrastructure that will support those potentials that it had.”
Gitteh, a pro-Barrow youth leader, said he is the right man for the job and that he will transform Brikama.
“I believe I have the expertise, I have the education, I have the energy, I have innovative ideas and I have the courage to lead that region to realise if not all but to build the foundation to realise the potentials that the region has for its people.
“The problems of the West Coast Region are way beyond just four years of Sheriffo Sonko. The problem of the West Coast Region has been there since 1965. There are problems that Sheriffo Sonko finds and Sheriffo cannot solve.
“There are a lot of problems, there are environmental issues, there are taxes being collected by the central government that I believe should be collected in the region,” he added.
